English for Children

Children learn in a natural way, getting amazing results. We believe their education needs to be about having fun and using the language in a natural way.

The Modulo programs and teaching methods were developed with this in mind especially for six to twelve-year-olds. We offer two different programs; Let's Go for General English and Cambridge's YLE for English Testing.

Our Programs

The language experts at Modulo have selected these amazing courses just for you.

CEFR

Modulo follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for assessing your language skills.

It's a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe and, increasingly, in other countries. Its main aim is to provide a method of learning, teaching and assessing which applies to all languages in Europe. The six reference levels are becoming widely accepted as the European standard for grading an individual's language proficiency.

The YLE course

Giving children a head start in English

The examination has three different levels: Starters (A0 level from the CEFR), Movers (A1 level from the CEFR) and Flyers (A2 level from the CEFR). The division of levels is according to ability, rather than age. Therefore, it is possible for a six-year old child to acquire the full marks in the Flyers Exam.

1

Starter

Young Learners English: Starters introduces children to everyday written and spoken English in a fun and motivating way.

2

Movers

Young Learners English: Movers is a great way to help children build on their language skills and make further progress in English.

3

Flyers

Young Learners English: Flyers is a great way to show children can deal with everyday written and spoken English at a basic level.

Why learn English?

Learning a new language is often begun at a young age and, in Thailand, is continued throughout a person's education. While it may be easier to learn and retain a second language at a younger age, those who are interested in learning a second language later on in life should not be discouraged. In fact, the older a person gets, the more apparent the need for the English language becomes. Consider the following instances in which mastery of the English language is crucial for success.

Studying in English

Studying in a university in an English speaking country is a challenging, but very rewarding, goal for many young Thais nowadays. The USA and the UK are still the most popular study destinations, but Thai students can also be found in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and several European countries. English-language proficiency is one of the major obstacles for students who want to study abroad.

Working in English

Obtaining a job in an English speaking country, or having to frequently interact with English speaking colleagues in Thailand or overseas. With trading between countries at a high, people are expected to speak more than one language in order to ensure the completion of a transaction. This means that English as a second language is becoming more common and expected in the business community.

Living in English

Anyone moving to a country that is predominantly English speaking will need to master the English language to complete daily tasks and communicate with others on a daily basis. Without having knowledge of the English language it may be very frustrating to complete simple tasks and interact with others.

English in the world

England map on flag

English was first spoken in England and is now the most widely used language in the world. It is spoken as a first language by a majority of the inhabitants of several nations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and a number of Caribbean nations. It is the third most common native language in the world. It is widely learned as a second language and is an official language of the European Union, many Commonwealth countries and the United Nations, as well as in many world organisations.

Planet Earth

Because English is so widely spoken, it has often been referred to as a "world language", the lingua franca of the modern era, and while it is not an official language in most countries, it is currently the language most often taught as a foreign language. It is, by international treaty, the official language for aeronautical and maritime communications. English is an official language of the United Nations and many other international organizations, including the International Olympic Committee. Books, magazines, and newspapers written in English are available in many countries around the world, and English is the most commonly used language in the sciences with 95% of articles written in English, even though only half of them came from authors in English-speaking countries.
